Nancy Putnik was an employee at Sallie Mae for the past 15 years. The poor economy led to her layoff in 2009. After searching for a job she realized that she would need some additional training to be employable in this area. Most of the jobs are related to the medical field so Nancy decided to take classes in the Medical Administrative program. Nancy is more than half way through her program now, making all A’s and B’s. Were it not for the Haney Scholarship Foundation she would not have been able to continue her education.
September 2008
Jenny Dykes is enrolled in the Administrative Assistant program at Haney Technical Center. She has an “A” average and is striving to gain employment in a more than minimum wage job. She says that she is extremely excited to finally learn computer and business applications and greatly appreciates the help from the Foundation for further her education.
Juanita Brown is a senior in the Practical Nursing program at Haney Technical Center. She is a single parent of an 8 year old daughter, and twin-3 year old sons. This is not just a chance for a better career for Juanita; it also allows her to provide better care for her daughter, who is severely hearing impaired. She is extremely grateful to the Foundation for helping with her tuition.
